Panthers Executive General Manager Phil Gould AM sheds a tear as he recounts John Farragher's story and presents this year's winner.

Having bounced back from a career-threatening ankle injury, not to mention playing 40 minutes against Canberra with a lacerated kidney, Bryce Cartwright was a worthy recipient.

Cartwright enjoyed a breakthrough season earning many admirers with his running game and signature offloads, where he led the competition with 57 this season.

His standout performance against South Sydney in Round 17 at Pepper Stadium was the highlight of his season as he played the full 80 minutes, running for 227 metres from 23 runs, four offloads and 29 tackles.

Offloads – 57 (first in the NRL)

Tackles – average 22 per game
