Junior Reps Results: Finals Week 1

Penrith’s junior representative sides had mixed results in the opening week of the finals, the Tarsha Gale Cup side secured a strong win while the remaining teams fell short. The Harold Matthews and Tarsha Gale Cup squads have progressed to Week 2 of Finals and will play in elimination clashes this weekend.

Harold Matthews

The Penrith Panthers’ Harold Matthews Cup side suffered a narrow 33–28 loss to the Rabbitohs but will get another chance next week in an elimination clash. Ezekiel Tutaia and Hetueni Masi struck early before second-half tries to Nate Millar, Ziyon Lepolo and Ryan Cloey kept the Panthers within reach. Cloey also played a key role with the boot, adding multiple conversions and a penalty goal, though the Rabbitohs held on in a tight finish.

SG Ball

The Penrith Panthers’ SG Ball Cup side went down 36–22 to the Knights in a high-scoring contest. Leo-Stipe Latu was a standout, crossing early and later completing a double, while Darcy Feltham and Thomas Goodfield also added tries to keep the Panthers in the fight. Hunter Bell was reliable with the boot, slotting multiple conversions, but the Knights’ attacking surge proved too strong to overcome.

Lisa Fiaola

The Penrith Panthers’ Lisa Fiaola Cup side fell 28–6 to the Wests Tigers in Week 1 of the finals, unable to match their opponents’ momentum across the contest. Despite a determined effort, the Panthers were kept scoreless until the second half, when Raevyn Szabo crossed in the 59th minute to get her side on the board. Isabella Ferguson added the conversion soon after, but the Tigers had already built a decisive lead, ending the team's finals campaign.

Tarsha Gale

The Penrith Panthers’ Tarsha Gale Cup side secured a strong 26–16 win over the Wests Tigers, producing a composed attacking performance. Tameika Clarke opened the scoring and later completed a double, while Monica Ben, Ella Walker and Samantha Hanrahan each crossed to build a handy lead. Clarke also impressed with the boot, adding three conversions to help the Panthers maintain control and close out the victory.
