The Panthers showed plenty of grit to overcome an early 12-0 deficit and claim a hard-fought 24-18 win over Parramatta, extending their lead at the top of the ladder despite spending 20 minutes with just 12 players.

Nathan Cleary inspired the comeback with two try assists, four goals and a composed kicking game, while Thomas Jenkins rebounded from a first-half sin bin to score his club-record 26th try of the season. Liam Henry and Liam Martin both crossed at crucial stages to turn the game in Penrith's favour.

Brian To'o was outstanding, powering for 221 metres from 21 runs and busting eight tackles in another tireless display, while Paul Alamoti matched To'o's eight tackle breaks as he consistently threatened the Eels' defence.
