NSW Cup Panthers shut out Sea Eagles to extend ladder lead

The Panthers strengthened their grip on top spot in the NSW Cup with an emphatic 40-0 victory over the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles at 4 Pines Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers ran in seven unanswered tries, including six in a dominant opening half, while Zakauri Clarke kicked six goals from seven attempts.

Delahia Wigmore opened the scoring in the fourth minute before Nick Murphy crossed six minutes later to give the Panthers an early advantage.

Tom Ale then scored twice in six minutes, completing his double in the 24th minute, before Luron Patea added another try three minutes later.

Jesse McLean crossed shortly before half-time as the Panthers took complete control of the contest.

The visitors continued to dominate after the break, with Murphy scoring his second try in the 56th minute to complete the 40-point victory.

The Panthers’ defensive effort was equally impressive, keeping Manly scoreless throughout the match to secure a commanding win away from home.

The result moves Penrith three competition points clear at the top of the NSW Cup ladder with six rounds remaining.
