The Penrith Panthers continue to show their strong commitment to young people in the Penrith community, with two success stories highlighting the impact of Panthers Foundation programs.
Josh Reed and Lincoln Henderson, now part of the 2026 SEDA program, first connected with the Panthers in 2023 through Panthers Foundation’s Building Young Men (BYM) initiative. Designed to support and guide local youth, the program focuses on personal growth, leadership, and creating positive life pathways.
For both Josh and Lincoln, their experience in BYM proved to be a turning point. The program not only strengthened their personal growth, but also encouraged them to pursue further education, leading them to their current pathway of tertiary study through the Panthers.
"The Building Young Men program allowed me to learn new interesting things about myself, Express any feelings or worries I had, and also discover strategies from mentors about how to cope with these challenges," Reed said.
Their journey reflects the club’s broader mission to invest in the future of young people in the region, providing opportunities that extend well beyond the football field.
“The SEDA Sport and Business Program and the Building Young Men initiative are playing a vital role in shaping the next generation of leaders within our community. While SEDA provides students with a strong educational and industry pathway, the Building Young Men program focuses on developing character, resilience and personal values. Together, these programs are helping young men grow into confident, respectful individuals with clear aspirations for their future.”

By fostering programs like BYM and partnerships with SEDA, the Panthers are continuing to support the next generation, helping young people develop the skills and confidence they need for the future.
To anyone hesitant about joining the BYM program I would highly encourage you to take a leap of faith and give the program a chance, As I was very hesitant at first but decided to just go for the first week and see how it was. Then later that year I proudly graduated the program with the biggest smile on my face.
