Season Snapshot: Blaize Talagi

In 2025, Blaize Talagi emerged as a key attacking weapon for the Panthers.

On the back of an impressive rookie season, Talagi was recruited as a potential successor to four-time premiership-winner Jarome Luai in Penrith’s halves.

Off-season shoulder surgery delayed his start to life at Penrith, but the 21-year old went on to become the Panthers full-time five-eighth. Across 22 appearances, Talagi recorded six tries, 11 try assists, nine forced drop outs and made 22 tackles per game.

The young gun stepped into first grade in Round 3, coming from the bench in an impressive club debut against the Storm.

Amongst many standout performances was his match-winning effort against the Titans in Round 22. He soared over AJ Brimson for a spectacular first-half try, before clinching victory for the Panthers in golden point.

Talagi had a significant role in the team’s push to the preliminary finals, and earned selection in the Toa Samoa squad for the 2025 Pacific Championships.

Partnering Jarome Luai in the halves, Talagi hit the ground running in Samoa’s opening game against New Zealand. He was a key cog in a game-defining try and kicked three goals from three attempts, including a late equaliser from the sideline.

WHAT WAS SAID

Talagi said;

"That's just me. If I'm doing something it's either 100 per cent or nothing. I think that's a good mindset,"
