The Panthers kicked off Round 17 with a thrilling two-point victory over the current competition leaders the Bulldogs at CommBank Stadium.

Nathan Cleary put the reigning NRL Premiers in front in the second half when he charged down a Matt Burton kick. The Panthers' defence held firm to secure a hard fought 8-6 win.
