The Battle of the West is always special: Sorensen

This Sunday Afternoon, the highly anticipated Battle of the West will take place at CommBank Stadium, where the Panthers face off against their long-time rivals, the Parramatta Eels.

It is a clash well known for its thrilling, edge of your seat footy every time these two sides meet.

Ahead of the game, Scott Sorenson shared some insight on his game day habits and whether he does anything differently in the lead-up to such intense matches like the Battle of the West.

"It’s about just being in the present.” Sorensen says.

“It’s sort of like the same every single week…we respect every single opposition that we come up against. Just making sure I’m ticking my boxes in terms of my preparation when I’m here at training."

After being asked about the impact the crowd has in high-intensity games like this, especially given his role in the 2022 Grand Final win over the Eels, Sorensen spoke about how special it is when the fans really get behind the team.

“Yeah, it’s pretty crazy… just how you touch on the '22 Grand Final… that was loud and intense… even like individual players getting called out…it’s just pretty real," he says.

"The Battle of the West, obviously the players are on the field and we go to battle but you can hear the fans get in amongst it as well.

"Sharing the impact that the fans can have on a game, especially high-intensity thrillers like these matches. It really lifts the atmosphere and the intensity around the game… it’s pretty cool to be a part of."

This weekend’s Battle of the West promises to be an exciting clash, with Sorensen returning from suspension and a passionate Panthers crowd ready to lift their team toward another victory.
