Nathan Cleary had his best performance of the season as a youthful Panthers side overwhelmed the Sharks at Panthers Stadium on Friday night.

19-year-old debutant Matt Burton couldn't have started his NRL career in better fashion, laying on a pin-point grubber for Brent Naden to score his eighth try of the season. Burton's kicking game helped the Panthers control field position throughout the night.

Dylan Edwards was at his brilliant best, scoring a double and notching up over 150 metres and five tackle breaks.

In the absence of fellow halves partner James Maloney, Cleary dominated from start to finish. He crossed for a vital four-pointer seconds before the half-time siren and had a hand in two more.

With the fast-finishing Sharks going to the air Panther No. 589 Stephen Crichton sealed the victory with a spectacular high-pressure take in the 79th minute. The catch capped off a great night for all three debutants.
