Westfund Injury Update: Jarome Luai, Wayde Egan

Panthers playmaker Jarome Luai and hooker Wayde Egan have been ruled out of Friday's game against Cronulla Sharks due to injury.

Luai continues to suffer from double vision after being poked in the eye by Bulldogs prop Dylan Napa in the second half of Saturday's game at Bankwest Stadium.

He will receive specialist medical advice this week to help determine the best course of action for a full recovery.

Meanwhile, Egan suffered a recurrence of an ongoing shoulder issue and his availability will be assessed again next week.

The injuries, combined with the possibility of James Maloney being suspended, will force Panthers coach Ivan Cleary to name a new-look side against Cronulla.

Maloney will receive a one-match ban unless his tripping charge is dismissed by the NRL Judiciary on Tuesday night.
