Business studies have Panthers prepared for future

Eight Panthers players have begun preparing for life after football by completing a Certificate IV in New Small Business through the Elite Athlete Business School (EABS).

Reagan Campbell-Gillard, Kaide Ellis, Wayde Egan, Billy Burns, Josh Mansour, Tyrone Phillips, Tim Grant and Frank Winterstein have each received their certification after studying for between 12 and 18 months.

The business course required the players to travel to Homebush for weekly seminars, while also undertaking assignments in their spare time and completing online assessments.

"Through their studies, the players learned valuable skills like public speaking, the basics of networking, and how to write a business plan and then present it," Panthers Wellbeing and Education Coordinator Kevin Kingston said.

"They've all emerged with a new level of confidence and plenty of ideas about pursuing different business opportunities in the future."

Kingston paid credit to EABS for the way they assisted the players to integrate their studies into already busy schedules.

"It's a huge challenge for the players to complete a course like this given how much of their life is taken up by Rugby League," he said.

"We need to thank Elite Athlete Business School for being so flexible in helping our players achieve their goals."

Dallin Watene-Zelezniak is also undertaking the course and is hoping to be the next Panther to graduate.

The 23-year-old winger is already putting his learnings into practice in helping brother Malakai run their family watch business - W Zelezniak.
