Katoa selected for Tonga

Panthers hooker Sione Katoa has been picked in a star-studded Mate Ma'a Tonga squad to face Toa Samoa at Campbelltown Stadium next Saturday.

Katoa will go head-to-head with Panthers teammates Tyrone May and Christian Crichton, who have been named in the Samoa squad.

The 23-year-old has represented Tonga on seven previous occasions and was most recently a member of their squad at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.

Tonga coach Kristian Woolf has announced a 17-man squad for Saturday's game, with Katoa expected to share the hooking duties with Canberra rake Siliva Havili.

Katoa's selection follows Panthers winger Tyrone Phillips being named in the Fiji Bati squad to tackle Papua New Guinea, and two Panthers being named in a new-look New Zealand squad.
