Panthers winger Josh Mansour has received a late call-up to the Kangaroos squad ahead of the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.

Mansour's inclusion comes at the expense of Darius Boyd, who failed a fitness test with Kangaroos medical staff on Thursday morning.

Panthers duo picked for New Zealand

The call-up sees him join Panthers teammate Reagan Campbell-Gillard in the Australian squad, after the prop forward also received a surprise call from Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga.

Mansour claimed the Senior Education Award at the Panthers end of season event on Wednesday night while Reagan Campbell-Gillard took home the prestigious Merv Cartwright Medal.

"Obviously it’s disappointing for Darius, who has been a fantastic player for the Kangaroos," Meninga said.
"It will be wonderful to see Josh back in the Kangaroos jersey after his injury in last year’s Four Nations.
"I know how disappointed he was to be injured last year and I know how passionate he is about the green and gold.
"It is a credit to him that he has been able to return to the highest representative honours."
