Panthers hooker Mitch Rein won ISP Player of the Year at the 2017 Merv Cartwright Medal on Wednesday night.

Rein brought experience, enthusiasm and leadership to a young squad and played a key role as Garth Brennan's outfit claimed the 2017 ISP Premiership and the 2017 State Championship.

When Peter Wallace suffered a groin injury midway through the year, Rein stepped up for five games with the NRL side.
