Construction of The Royce - the new retirement apartments for over 55s at Panthers Penrith - is officially underway.

Panthers legend Royce Simmons, who is also Brand Ambassador for The Royce, was on hand at the ground breaking ceremony to mark the commencement of construction earlier this week.

Stage One of The Royce is due for completion by the end of 2018.

"With Penrith growing rapidly, there's a shortage of good aged care facilities, so The Royce will be a very good thing for our members and the people of Penrith," Panthers Chairman Dave O'Neill said.

The Hon. Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith, Minister for Western Sydney, Minister for WestConnex and Minister for Sport noted in his opening speech that The Royce was an example of many major infrastructure developments going on in Penrith.

Partnering with Panthers Penrith in the development, and ultimately the management of The Royce, will be the experienced retirement village operators Tulich, who were represented at the ceremony by CEO Bianca Tulich.

The construction area is now fenced off and in the coming months there will be plenty of work being done.
