The Panthers have completed a clean sweep in the Waiheke Pool, going through undefeated after a dominant 22-4 win over Gold Coast Titans in the final group game.

HIGHLIGHTS: Cracking tries secure victory

Titans were able to capitalise on a Panthers error on halfway when they struck first through John Olive. Tyrone Roberts would miss the conversion out wide.

A 40/20 to Penrith would give them the chance to put some pressure on the Titans line and Zach Dockar-Clay made it count when he scooted over for a bonus try from dummy half. He would convert his own try to give the Panthers a 7-4 lead.

Jed Cartwright would then produce a moment of magic we’re all too used to seeing from a Cartwright in Penrith colours. A strong run and a one handed offload would open up the space for Dylan Edwards to dive in the corner and extend the lead to seven points at half time.

A scrappy start after the interval would see both teams throw away promising chances to score before the Titans looked certain to cross the line if not for a wonderful last ditch tackle from Edwards on the much bigger Pulu.

Sione Katoa added to the scoreline with a bonus try after regathering his own kick following a kind bounce that eluded William Zillman. Corey Harawira-Naera slotted the extra two for an 18-4 lead.

Sitaleki Akauola would polish off a convincing win with the last touch of the game, running on to a grubber to seal a 22-4 win and cement Penrith’s spot at the top of the Waiheke Pool.
