Penrith Panthers are delighted to announce the signing of Gold Coast Suns AFL player Josh Hall on a two-year deal.

25-year-old Hall was born in Townsville and grew up playing rugby league but went on to achieve success as a high jump athlete.

Standing 197cm tall,  Hall was a national champion on the verge of Olympic qualification before making the transition to AFL in 2011.

He was picked up by Gold Coast in the 2012 Rookie Draft and played seven games for the Suns in his three years at the club.

Panthers Executive General Manager Rugby League Phil Gould AM said Hall is determined to secure a position in Penrith’s NRL squad.

"From the first time I met Josh I was impressed with his personality and enthusiasm," Mr Gould said.

"He possesses great athletic ability and if desire counts for anything, he has a bright future ahead of him.

"Josh is well aware of the challenges he faces but a successful transition will no doubt inspire others to follow.

"It won’t be easy for Josh but we will do everything in our power to make his dream a reality."

Hall will join the Panthers for the start of pre-season training in November.
