Panther fans – meet Tom.

He is 8 years old, lives on the Central Coast and is mad for rugby league!

He came to visit us here at Sportingbet Stadium last weekend for a special meet and greet with Jamie Soward. But this wasn’t just your average photo and autograph session.

Tom has suffered a few concussions recently and his mum and stepdad have been trying desperately to get him to wear headgear when he plays. But he wasn’t too keen on the idea, until finally revealing he was being bullied. Someone close to him was saying that he would turn soft and be a big girl if he wore headgear on the field.

Enter Sowie.

Last Sunday before our final Captain’s run, Jamie met Tom outside the gym. He took him on a tour of the sheds and the field, and then sat down with him to chat about how important headgear can be for players, especially when they have had a couple of head knocks. After spending 20 minutes with Jamie, Tom agreed that from now on he would always wear a headgear, no matter what anyone said.

Sowie then gave him some of his game kit and had a couple of photos with him before heading off to training.

Panthers would like to wish Tom all the best with his rugby league career!
