Saturday’s NSW Cup clash between the top of the table Panthers and 10th placed Wyong will be an interesting one, with Penrith looking consistent and strong and the Roos so unpredictable it’s dangerous.

The Panthers continued their winning streak last Sunday with a nail-biting 1 point win over the Illawarra Cutters. It wasn’t their best performance and had it not been for a Tom Humble field goal in the dying minutes of the match, the result could have been very different.

Wyong had a gutsy win last weekend too, beating Manly 36-30, which has kept them in touch with the top 8. They started poorly against the Sea Eagles but managed to score some exciting tries; they were very quick off the mark and took full advantage of Manly’s weaknesses. Their form has been up and down this season which makes them very dangerous opponents, as you don’t know what you’re going to get on the field.

This week at training, Penrith coach Garth Brennan has been tightening up a few plays that let us down last week, and has been focusing on team discipline. Defence will be key against the Roos.

He’s named a full strength side, including big Ben Murdoch-Masila who returns after being struck down with a virus which kept him out of last weekend’s match.
