Round 6, NSW CUP

Saturday 12th April

Kick off: 3pm

Venue: Sportingbet Stadium, Penrith

Ref: Daniel Olford

Saturday’s NSW CUP clash between the Panthers and Wests Tigers promises to be one of the most exciting match-ups of the weekend, with both sides showcasing some brilliant football over the last couple of weeks.

After a sluggish start, Penrith have finally found their feet and have come up with three back to back wins over previously unbeaten teams. While the Tigers have been the surprise packet of the comp so far, running in four wins from their five games, earning them the title ‘comeback kids’!

Both teams have some incredible depth and experience, with a lot of players in both sides having some NRL experience. In fact, more than half of the Panthers run-on side played first grade last year.

Coach Garth Brennan has named a near unchanged side this week, keeping the Naiqama brothers together and bringing Tyrone Peachey into his starting line-up. Daniel Foster also returns from injury to start on the bench.

The Tigers have lost a few players this week with Blake Austin and Kurtis Rowe earning call ups for the NRL, but their replacements have just as much experience and talent so it shouldn’t be too much of an issue for them.
