Penrith Panthers have the great pleasure in announcing the signing of Jamal Idris to a new 3 year contract with the club.

Jamal has been in talks with the Gold Coast Titans for some time about a return to Sydney on compassionate grounds, to be closer to his family. We congratulate the Titans for the compassion and understanding they have shown Jamal, and we are extremely delighted that this has given the Panthers an opportunity to negotiate a contract with such a quality player.

Panthers Executive General Manager Phil Gould says it was obviously a tough decision for Gold Coast.

“I admire the way the club and this player have resolved the situation. And for Panthers, it is a major coup to recruit a player of such a high profile and tremendous ability. Jamal will be a wonderful acquisition for Penrith, both on and off the field”.

At this stage there will be no further comment, but we anticipate Jamal will be available for interviews next week, once he returns to Sydney.
