The Panthers are headed west this Thursday to play their first trial match on Friday night in the build-up to season 2013. The town of Bathurst will host the Panthers as they take on the Tigers at Carrington Park on Friday February 8th at 6:30pm. The game will be an opportunity not only for the fans to get their first taste of footy for 2013, but also for the players to show that all the hard work and hours of sweat during the pre-season has been worth it.
A new-look Panthers team will be on show as a host of new recruits play their first game in Panthers colours. The match will give head coach Ivan Cleary a good look at how the players perform in match conditions. Cleary is happy with the preparation of the players and says All the work and effort put in by the entire squad this pre-season has been tremendous, so that aspect is very pleasing. We are all working together as a group. The match will give me a good look at some new players we have brought to the club and it will allow the boys to take what we've been practicing on the training park into an actual match.
While the Panthers will be having their first game of the year in Bathurst, footy isnt the only reason they will be heading west. Theyll also be taking part in the NRLs Community Carnival. Over the two days, players will visit 40 schools in the Bathurst and Orange regions. They will act as role models in the fight against bullying and help spread the NRLs One Community message of Tackle Bullying. During the school visits the Panthers will also educate children about the importance of nutrition, and living a healthy and active lifestyle.
Come Friday night the footy will be back so make sure to keep your eye out for all the news from our Community Carnival trip and trial match on our Website, Facebook and Twitter accounts.
