Mixed Media: Trent Merrin

Panthers forward Trent Merrin has praised the side's belief in each other as they completed a miraculous come-from-behind win against the Warriors.

Despite trailing by 22 points and seemingly out of the contest after a lacklustre first-half, Merrin claimed the players maintained belief they could turn it around, before running in five tries to nil to seal the "special" victory.

"All week we've been working on ourselves as a group and you could just see the belief in the team," Merrin said.

"Everyone had each other's back and we just worked one play after the other and got ourselves in a great position.

"It was a very inspirational win. One of the special ones you hold on to."

After finally snapping a five-game losing streak, Merrin is hoping the talent in the squad will start to shine through as they look ahead to the rest of the season.

"We've been struggling but we always know that style of footy is there. It's just that we've let ourselves down the last few weeks in crucial areas of the game," Merrin said.

"But that win on the weekend gives us a lot of belief and we know what we’re capable of doing.

"We’ll take a lot of confidence out of that in to Newcastle this week."
