Leilani Latu has thrown his support behind Matt Moylan as the Panthers captain returns to the NRL side following his brief stint in the Intrust Super Premiership.

Moylan, along with Peta Hiku and Waqa Blake, were stood down for disciplinary reasons following the loss in Melbourne a fortnight ago. The trio have been named in the 21-man squad to tackle Cronulla Sharks on Sunday.

Latu praised the skipper's reaction as the team returned to the training field this week.

"Moyza (Moylan) is a great leader," Latu said.

"Myself and the team are 100% behind him. We see him at training and from all signals he's doing well.

"He's very vocal and he shows us the way and where we need to be. That's all we can ask from a captain and he's doing that at training."

The return of those players, along with James Fisher-Harris and Tyrone Peachey, will provide a huge boost for the side as they look to improve on their early season form.

Despite winning just two of their opening six matches, Latu insisted there is no reason for panic.

"We were in the same predicament last year," he said.

"The positive that we can take out of it is what we can improve on, rather than gain more wins but find mistakes at the back end of the season.

"From that standpoint it's a good opportunity to go back to basics and realise where our mistakes are and what we can improve on.

"Our main focus right now is to take one game at a time, one day at a time."
