The premiere of The NRL Rookie is almost upon us with the first episode going to air in Australia at 7.30pm on Tuesday May 31 on 9GO!

From the 1,200 who auditioned for an opportunity of a lifetime, 28 young hopefuls – hailing from eight different countries, have been chosen to battle it out for the inaugural title of the NRL Rookie.

Head coach Brad Fittler wastes no time as the boys are hurled into their first challenge, testing both attitude and physical endurance.

With less than a day's turnaround the Rookies lace up their boots, showing glimpses of the talent they have to offer, yet unfortunate circumstances prove difficult for one of the players.

Alongside rugby league legends Mark Geyer and Adrian Lam, as well as psychology coach Kate Baecher, Freddy is faced with a difficult situation of cutting half of the boys, with those remaining to make up the Top 14.

For some it's a second chance, for others, it’s their last chance. However, only one can sign on the dotted line of an NRL contract and be crowned the NRL Rookie.

Hosted by The Footy Show's Erin Molan, all episodes and online exclusive extras will also be available to be watched for free at any time at NRLROOKIE.COM
