Versatile Panthers back Will Smith has received the late call-up to join the Indigenous All Stars for Saturday night's clash with the World All Stars in Brisbane

Smith completed Captain's Run with the Panthers on Friday morning before news came through Cowboys hooker Ray Thompson had suffered a broken ankle at All Stars training.

The Panthers now have five players taking part in the All Stars clash with Smith, Tyrone Peachey, Jamie Soward and Leilani Latu representing the Indigenous team, while Trent Merrin will play for the World side.

Smith's omission from the Panthers squad for Saturday's trial game against the Bulldogs will force coach Anthony Griffin into a reshuffle of his planned combinations.
