Panthers forward Elijah Taylor's season is over after scans confirmed he fractured his left hand against the Dragons.
Taylor suffered the fracture in the first tackle he made in Thursday's game - and he went on to make eleven more tackles - before leaving the field for treatment.
The injury will keep the 25-year-old sidelined for at least four weeks but does not require surgery.
Taylor's replacement as captain will be confirmed when the team to tackle Canberra Raiders is announced on Tuesday afternoon.
