It's my second year playing in the NYC team here at the Panthers. I'm a Western Sydney boy through and through. I grew up in Mount Druitt and came up through the ranks and played SG Ball before making my way into the current squad.
We have a great group of blokes in the team, I get along really well with all of them. Kieran Moss and I are best mates, we went to school together at Hills Sports High so it's awesome to be playing together now.
I think the NYC competition is awesome. I loved watching the U20s State of Origin, obviously I wish I was playing but that's something to aspire to. To be a part of the NYC comp we're all required to have a job or study as well as play footy. It helps to keep your feet on the ground and gives you something to do outside of footy. I just started a new job unloading shipping containers, putting my size to good use I guess!
Seeing Harry Siejka play first grade last year made me want to graduate into the NRL even more. The player I model myself after the most is Petero Civoniceva. He's a living legend! We play in the same position and his playing style is amazing, and I've always admired the way he treats people off the field. My cousins are the Sims brothers so their success motivates me too.
Within the club, Travis Burns is fantastic to have around. He always comes to hang out in the physio room with us and have a chat. He's just a great bloke, really down to earth and humble and I appreciate that.
The Panthers are a great community club and recently I've done some work with the ARLD footy clinics and realised I really enjoy it. I love kids and it's rewarding to work with them. It's made me very aware of being a good role model, and to always behave myself because to be a part of a the club is both a privilege and a responsibility.
Footy wise, our form has been pretty good this year. At the moment we're six from eight and we're hoping to clock up win number seven against the Storm this Saturday afternoon. We love playing in front of you so please get out there to cheer us on!
