What is the Black Hole?
We are a bunch of 'crazy' Penrith fans who congregate together to show our undying love for the mighty Penrith Panthers.
Our debut season was in 2007 (then known as The Den), with the goal of bringing together loud and passionate Panthers supporters in the one spot, and creating a blackout everywhere we go, as a testament to the black jersey worn by the team on the field.
It was a great success, with an ever-growing group getting behind the boys in black in any way they could - and having a ball along the way!
2008, was an even bigger year, with the addition of 'Dan the trumpet man' bringing a new dimension to our group.
In 2009, we changed our name to The Black Hole, to reflect a dedicated section of Centrebet Stadium, Penrith (Bay 6 in the Eastern Terrace) known as The Black Hole, where the seats are black, a stark contrast to every other seat in the venue! This section is strictly for Panthers fans only – all others will and have been denied access to ensure a happy and harmonious place exclusively for our enjoyment as we attempt to get the boys home.
In 2010, ‘Dan the trumpet man’ was joined by 7 more “bandies” and the “Black Hole Band” was officially formed and has continued to appear at the odd game at Centrebet stadium.
In 2011, The Black Hole was awarded the title of the NRL’s Best Support Group by David Peachey and the team at the Barefoot Rugby League Show, which airs on Foxtel’s NITV and achieved a record level of Membership: a 753-strong sell out!
In 2013 The Black Hole will change ever so slightly with the addition of reserved seating. What does that mean for you? It means you can secure your very own seat in Bay 6 of the Black Hole for the ENTIRE 2013 NRL Season. This is a first and is sure to prove very popular. So, to secure your seat, contact the Panthers Season Ticket Team on 02 4720 5575 as soon as possible. If you prefer to sit in a different seat each week you can do so in the General Admission section (Bay 7) of the Black Hole. Again, to secure your spot, contact the Panthers Season Ticket team. Keep in mind we will also have a pre-season get-together to formulate new songs and banners (and also build on what we achieved in 2012!) For all the latest, ensure you join us on Facebook: The BlackHole Faithful and follow us on Twitter: @PDRLFCBlackHole
2013 is shaping up as a tremendous year with local lads. Michael Jennings, Lachlan Coote and Tim Grant will be joined by international stars Sika Manu and Lewis Brown. Gus Gould and our coach Ivan Cleary have also secured the services of exciting youngsters James Segeyaro, Dean Whare, Kyle O’Donnell and Jeremy Latimore. Don’t forget we still have rising stars Josh Mansour and Matty Robinson, our little general Luke Walsh, skipper Kevin Kingston and of course, the big Mack Truck up front, Sam McKendry! We would love for you to be a part of something special, so get up, get loud and join the Panthers today!
I know who and what I am! I’m a mighty Panthers fan!
